Carpentry 20 introduces stagehands to the basics of building using the power tools that are most common on entertainment and exhibition jobsites. The class will walk the learner through the building of a work stool using the tools and techniques common to all stage carpentry. Materials and consumables are provided by San Diego Theatrical Training Trust. and the learner will be able to take home the finished project in the class.

There will be a lunch break from 12-1pm please plan accordingly.

What to bring:

  • Tape measure at least 3′ long (no mixed metric /standard )
  • Hammer
  • Diagonal cutters (pliers) or end nip pliers
  • Combination square 12″
  • Safety glass

This class has limited capacity and as such it will be treated like a job call regarding call out procedures, tardiness and no call no show.

Requirements:

  • The learner must have worked a call from the referral hall, worked under a collective bargaining agreement, or be a current member of IATSE Local 122.
  • This is an in-person class. Please take traffic into consideration to arrive on time.
