Fall Arrest and Harness Training
January 14 @ 8:30 am - 12:30 pm
The La Jolla Playhouse, IATSE Local 122 and the San Diego Theatrical Training Tust are proud to announce a Fall Arrest and Harness Training session. This collaborative event is designed to equip our workforce with the technical skills and safety mindset necessary to navigate the unique challenges of theatrical production and technical staging.
Why This Matters
Worker safety is the cornerstone of every successful production. By bringing together the Employer’s dedication to a secure working environment and the Union’s unwavering commitment to craft excellence and member protection, we are creating a gold standard for safety in the arts.
This training is a testament to what we can achieve when employers and labor work hand-in-hand to protect our most valuable asset: our people.
What You Will Learn
Led by industry experts, this hands-on session will cover:
- Equipment Inspection: Identifying wear and tear in harnesses, lanyards, and connectors.
- Proper Fitment: Ensuring every participant can correctly don and adjust their gear.
- Fall Physics: Understanding fall distances, clearance requirements, and force distribution.
- Rescue Planning: Essential protocols for post-fall recovery and emergency response.
- Site-Specific Hazards: Navigating the specific architecture and rigging points of the Playhouse.
Completing the Partnership
We have built the framework and provided the resources—now we need you. Your participation is the final, vital piece of this safety partnership. By attending this training, you aren’t just checking a box; you are actively contributing to a culture where everyone goes home safe at the end of the night.
