Forklift Certification Class – AM Session
May 14 @ 8:00 am - 12:00 pm
Get ready to take the stage in a new way with our Forklift Certification Course, tailored specifically for stagehands and designed to give you the skills needed to operate a forklift safely and efficiently. A forklift, often the unsung hero of stage setup, is crucial in transporting, lifting, and positioning heavy set pieces and equipment. This class is by invitation only, put in your request here.
Class Structure:
Our course is a total of 4 hours, split into two main parts. The first half is a 2-hour classroom session that covers all the theory and essential safety guidelines. The second half is a 2-hour practical session, where you will get hands-on experience and instruction on driving a forklift. During drive sessions there will be four participants per instructor and forklift.
Classroom Session (2 hours):
In the classroom, we’ll focus on the nuts and bolts of forklift operation. We’ll discuss the design, capabilities, and limitations of forklifts, and cover the safety regulations from organizations like OSHA. We’ll also talk about forklift physics – that is, how gravity and balance affect how you should operate the machine – and the all-important pre-use inspection or ‘pre-flight check’.
Drive Instruction (2 hours):
In the practical part of the course, you’ll get behind the wheel of a forklift. Under the guidance of our experienced instructors, you’ll learn how to conduct a pre-use inspection, handle loads, and navigate a forklift.
What You Will Learn:
At the end of the course, you will have a solid understanding of how to operate a forklift safely and efficiently. You’ll be proficient in conducting pre-use inspections, handling and moving loads, and driving the forklift.
Certification:
Once you’ve demonstrated your newfound skills and passed our assessment, you’ll receive a forklift certification. This isn’t just a piece of paper; it’s a testament to your commitment to safety and efficiency in the workplace, and a valuable addition to your stagehand toolkit.
