Scaffolding and Deckbuilding 2.0: Snapdragon Stadium Prep
Class times:

11:00AM-12:30AM
1:00PM-2:30PM
3:00PM-4:00PM
In our previous session at Pechanga, we covered the core principles of temporary stage deck building using the old-school materials that were available at the time. The math and logic were solid, but the industry has moved on, and so have we.
With our first major gig at Snapdragon Stadium coming up later this month, we are breaking out the actual gear we will be using on-site: modern ring lock (rosette style) scaffolding and decking systems.
If you are booked for the Snapdragon build—or want to be ready for modern staging calls—this hands-on training session is essential.
What We Will Cover:
- The Rosette System: Mastering the locking mechanisms, ledgers, and standards of modern ring lock systems.
- Deck Integration: How to properly drop, secure, and lock in the actual decks we’ll be handling at the stadium.
- Speed & Safety: Real-world tips for squaring, leveling, and plumbing a deck efficiently without sacrificing safety.
- On-Site Workflow: Understanding the build order so we can hit the stadium floor running.
What to Bring:
- Standard crew attire (closed-toe shoes/boots required).
- Your hard hat, level 2 high viz, a small sledge or scaffold hammer (required for dispatch to scaff and deck jobs), gloves, and relevant hand tools (podger/ratchet, tape measure, level if you have them).
- A ready-to-work attitude.
Please choose one session and register here.
Note:
This class has limited capacity and as such it will be treated like a job call regarding call out procedures, tardiness and no call no show.
Requirements:
- The learner must have worked a call from the referral hall, worked under a collective bargaining agreement, or be a current member of IATSE Local 122.
- This is an in-person class offered at the San Diego Theatrical Training Trust Corp. Training Center. Please take traffic into consideration to arrive on time.
- Parking is limited, please park directly in front of our building. All other spaces are reserved
- 4349 Twain Ave B, San Diego, CA, 92120 in Mission Valley.
We are at the end of a surprisingly long driveway that is found on the South Side of Twain Ave, right next to the Doggie Daycare and across from the black, white and grey newer apartment building. We have limited parking within our own complex only; street parking is great but do not use any other parking lots.
