How do I Join I.A.T.S.E. Local 122?

First of all, you do not have to be a card holding member of Local 122 to start working with us and start enjoying the benefits of working within a union environment. Anyone can sign-up and have their name on the call-list. Almost every card holding member started out working with Local 122 this way. When you sign up, you will be included in the I.A.T.S.E. Local 122 Pre-Apprentice Program (See Below). At this point, with every job you work you can start building up hours towards your membership. You will work for employers under collective bargaining agreements negotiated by the union and enjoy the benefits of union representation. You will begin the qualification process for health benefits, and will begin the the vesting process for your pension and annuity plans. Standard taxes will be taken out of your paychecks for the work that you do, allowing you to qualify for state unemployment, disability, and family leave when you need it.

The I.A.T.S.E. 122 Pre-Apprentice Program is an educational initiative designed to provide new referents with the basic skills needed to function as a competent crew member in all departments. As such, the program has an array of entry level classes for that focus on specialized knowledge while reinforcing the skills common to all. Consequently, the Pre-Apprentice program provides a solid foundation for more advanced education and the I.A.T.S.E. 122 Apprenticeship Program

What is the program, and what do I need to complete it?

• The program is designed for individuals who wish to join union membership with Local 122.
• You will have on the job training, along with classroom training to perfect your skills, or learn something new.
• Continuing education will be provided
• Workshops and classes will be offered throughout the year and are a great opportunity to learn a new skill or improve your skills.
• Referents will be required to complete 3200 hours of paid on the job training to be considered for membership.

Where do I start?

• We accept resumes by filling out the online application form below. Please include your resume in the form.
• Your resume will be reviewed by the office staff and kept on file for 6 months.
• Once your resume is reviewed and accepted, you will be invited to come into the hall and fill out an application to become active on the work referral list.
• You may begin calling the work availability line immediately after the in-person application is processed. The availability process will be explained to you at that point.

Applicant must have attained the age of eighteen(18).

The filling out of this application does not guarantee employment through I.A.T.S.E. Local 122. If in the future, the Local can use your services, we will notify you.
