Welcome to Electrics 10: Introduction to Electrics Crew

Join us for a 2 hour introductory session designed for newcomers to the world of stage production electrics. “Electrics 10: Introduction to Electrics Crew” is the perfect starting point for those aspiring to understand the basics of electrical work in theater and live events. In this class, you’ll familiarize yourself with key electrical equipment, grasp the fundamental roles and responsibilities of an electrics crew, and learn essential safety protocols. We’ll also introduce you to the basic electrical terminology and standard tools used in the industry. This course is tailored to provide a solid foundation in stage electrics, ensuring you leave with a clear understanding and newfound appreciation for this vital aspect of stage production. Whether you’re a budding stagehand or simply curious about the field, this class is your first step into the electrifying world of stage production!

Class Objectives:

Identify and describe the various types of gear used daily by electrics crew members.

List and explain the best practices for the load-in and load-out processes in stage production.

Summarize key safety protocols and demonstrate basic safety procedures for using power in stage production.

PLEASE NOTE:

  • The learner must have worked a call from the referral hall, worked under a collective bargaining agreement, or be a current member of IATSE Local 122.
  • This class has limited attendance and all attendees must have a reservation; therefore, it will be treated like a job call. If you are unable to attend, please cancel your ticket or email education@iatse122.org.
  • Tardiness and/or No-Call-No-Show will be reported to the IATSE Local 122 Compliance Committee.
